Mile Long Hometown Parade

The Mile Long Hometown Parade begins at 1 p.m. with more than 100 units — floats, marching bands, bagpipes, horses, dogs, sports teams, military units, local non-profs and businesses.

Win $1,000 for the most Humorous Entry! For a second year the Buxton-Ellis award is up for grabs. If a non-profit organization wins, they can keep the money. A for-profit entry must designate a non-profit recipient. Long-time parade announcers Frank Buxton and John Ellis will judge the competition.

As in years past, we expect thousands of people to line the one-mile parade route to watch this wonderful small-town event unfold. It’s a good thing that people come from all over Kitsap and Seattle to see the parade because so many islanders are in it!

Parade applications are just $30 for non-profits and neighborhood groups; $40 for commercial enterprises and/or politicians. There is no cost for military units.
